DOWD, MAUREEN. “The Long, Lame Goodbye.” The New York Times 17 January 2009. 21 January 2009 <http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/18/opinion/18dowd.html>.
Read this article This article is about the differences between Bush and Obama. Ms. Dowd seems to blame all the countries problems on Bush. She thinks that Bush could have avoided the war in the Middle East if only he had seeked the counsel of his father, former president Bush senior, who had gone to war with Saddam in the past. Instead of going to war “ignorantly and fraudulently” like he did. Ms. Dowd sees Bush as a “Western gunslinger” that was cocky and spoiled. She feels he spent his presidency “spent trashing the Constitution, the economy and the environment”. According to her, “The exiting and entering presidents are opposite poles — one the parody of a monosyllabic Western gunslinger who disdains nuance, and one a complex, polysyllabic professor sort who will make a decision only after he has held it up to the light and examined it from all sides.”
I think this Ms. Dowd is a totally uninformed woman who sings praises to a man who is inexperienced and looks down on a man who held this country together during the toughest of times. “Little Miss Know it All” thinks that she knows best well let her be in a situation like that with an enormous amount of pressure and see how she handles it. My bet is her choices would have let this country fall apart and run it straight to hell. She writes about Obama as if he’s some kind of saint who has never made a mistake in his life, wrong. He went to a church for years that had a preacher who hated white people and pretty much preached against them, yet he claimed to have no idea. Bull he was close friends with his preacher so he had to know how he felt. As for his inauguration, that was hypocritical. He had the most expensive inauguration in history yet our country is in debt and he is said to be the one who is going to fix it? No he just put us further into debt. My opinion is that he is way under qualified to run this country. Good bye President Bush you are greatly appreciated and will be deeply missed.
